Practical AI · Illustrative sample

Practise the conversation you’re putting off.

Use AI voice as a rehearsal partner. Say your point out loud, hear a question back, and work on the part that was hard to explain.

01 / The useful part

Give yourself a practice run.

Think of a change you need to explain. A new handover process, a different meeting format or a shift in priorities. Practise with invented details before a real conversation.

Open a voice conversation in an AI tool you’re allowed to use. In ChatGPT, use the Voice control; availability and limits depend on your account. You can also try this exercise in text.

Say this to begin

Help me practise explaining a change to my team. This is a fictional scenario: our team is changing how it hands work over between shifts. Play a colleague who wants to understand why. Ask one question at a time. After three questions, pause and tell me which parts of my explanation were unclear. Do not write a speech for me.

  1. Explain it in your own words. Answer the questions as if someone had asked you in a meeting.
  2. Notice where you hesitate. Ask which part needs a clearer reason or a concrete example.
  3. Try again. Choose the feedback you find useful and make another attempt yourself.

Use fictional or approved details. AI role-play cannot predict how a real colleague will respond. Read OpenAI’s voice guidance.

Use AI to help you prepare. Keep the thinking and the conversation yours.

02 / Your next step

Pick one conversation. Say the first sentence.

Start with the fictional prompt above. Once you’ve tried it, decide whether this way of practising helps you prepare.
