Introducing Astra for Law

If you work in legal services, this is a purpose-built legal research tool backed by a 230-million-URL index of US case law, statutes and regulations — though access is currently restricted to selected law firms via OpenAI's Trusted Access Program, so most readers won't be able to use it immediately.

AnthropicNew features

Introducing the Life Sciences Verification Program

If your organisation runs genuine life-sciences or biosecurity research, you can now apply for verified access to Claude with fewer built-in safety restrictions on biology-related queries — useful for legitimate drug discovery or lab work that would otherwise get blocked. It is not a general feature: you need to apply, be vetted, and it is currently limited to team/enterprise accounts, not individual Claude plans.

Reimagining advertising with AI

If you run a small business or manage marketing, ChatGPT can now help you write and manage ad campaigns in plain language, and new HubSpot/Shopify integrations mean less manual setup. As a ChatGPT user, be aware ads may soon include a Sponsored Agent you can chat with after clicking - this is in early US-only testing for now, not yet in Australia.

OpenAIPolicy

Our framework for reporting model misalignment

This is a safety and transparency move rather than a new feature: OpenAI is now publicly reporting cases where its models behaved in unexpected or concerning ways, and admitting the industry has not fully solved this problem. It matters mainly if you are weighing AI vendor trustworthiness or safety practices for governance or procurement decisions, not for day-to-day ChatGPT use.

MistralNew features

Mistral x Mozilla: Private, Multilingual AI Browsing

If you use Firefox, you will soon get a built-in AI assistant that can summarise and pull together what is across your open tabs without copy-pasting into a separate chatbot - with a stronger privacy commitment (no server-side conversation storage) than most AI browser add-ons. It is rolling out first in France and North America, not yet confirmed for Australia.

Introducing Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking

If you use Gemini voice mode for hands-free tasks - like talking through a problem while driving or in a meeting - these models let it keep reasoning or working on your request in the background while you keep talking, instead of making you wait or repeat yourself.

OpenAINew features

Changes to automatic switching to thinking in ChatGPT (Plus and Pro)

If you're on ChatGPT Plus or Pro, ChatGPT will no longer automatically switch itself into slower 'thinking' mode for harder questions — you'll need to manually pick a reasoning model from the model picker when you want deeper analysis, so it pays to know that option exists rather than assume ChatGPT will do it for you.

Updated permissions for new Health connections

If you or your team have connected ChatGPT to health data sources, check this now: new Health connections will act on your data automatically for routine tasks instead of asking permission every time. That is more convenient day-to-day, but if you handle sensitive health information, visit Settings -> Plugins -> Health to confirm the default matches how cautious you want ChatGPT to be, particularly for anything that could share health data with a third party.

OpenAIRetirements

Planned custom GPT retirement and migration to plugins

If your organisation has built custom GPTs — say, an internal FAQ bot or a client-facing assistant — they will stop working in their current form once OpenAI's retirement date for your plan hits. Take stock of any GPTs your team relies on now, work out who built them, and plan the move to OpenAI's new plugin format before that date so a tool you depend on doesn't vanish without warning.

GoogleNew features

Gemini App Now Available for Windows

If you're on a Windows PC for work, you can now open Gemini instantly from any app with a keyboard shortcut instead of switching to a browser tab — handy for quick drafting, task management or image generation mid-task.

ChatGPT for Financial Services

If you work in banking, equity research, or corporate finance, this gives your team a purpose-built ChatGPT that pulls in licensed financial data and drafts models and client-ready materials with sourced citations — but it's not self-serve yet; your organisation needs to be approved and onboarded by OpenAI directly.

OpenAINew features

Now everyone can put data to work

If your team uses ChatGPT Work and has data sitting in Snowflake, BigQuery or Databricks, non-technical staff can now ask plain-English questions and get back dashboards and charts instead of waiting on an analyst. Worth trialling for finance, ops or reporting tasks that currently rely on a spreadsheet specialist.
